觀音是一個神明的名字。
祂也可以稱做觀世音、觀自在、觀音佛祖、觀音菩薩、觀音大士或觀音媽，是佛教裡的大菩薩。
觀音曾發下宏願，不管任何人，遇到任何危險或困難，只要誠心誠意唸出觀音的名字，祂就會立刻施展神力前來解除危機！
為著欲幫助無仝環境的人，觀音菩薩會化做各種的面貌來現身，有時仔是查埔，有時仔是查某，有當時仔是老人，有當時仔是囡仔，閣會使是印度的王子、中國的公主，甚至是牛、馬、蜊仔、蚶仔、物件，風抑是雨抑是石頭……伊是扮演各種角色的高手！…
Guanyin appears in different forms according to the situation. Sometimes she is a man; other times she is female. Sometimes she seems old; sometimes she looks like a child. She may be an Indian prince, a Chinese princess, or even an ox, a horse, a clam, a tool, a stone, a timely rain, or a gust of wind!
She is truly the queen of role play.
甘泉寺石觀音
佇桃園西爿倚海的地區，有一个所在的地名就號做觀音，遐有觀音幼兒園、觀音國小、觀音國中、觀音消防隊、觀音派出所、觀音圖書館……
黃阿婆蹛佇觀音小庄頭，常在去觀音溪邊仔散步、會行過觀音橋、開一間觀音點心擔，伊講：「聽阮阿媽講，佇兩百外冬前某一工下晡，雄雄霆雷公摔大雨……」
The Stone Guanyin of Gancyuan Temple
A coastal town of Taoyuan shares its name with the bodhisattva. There you would come across Guanyin Preschool, Guanyin Elementary School, Guanyin Junior High, Guanyin Fire Department, Guanyin Police Station, Guanyin Public Library, and more. “This is the story my grandma told,” says Madam Huang, who lives in the town of Guanyin, walks the Guanyin Bridge over the Guanyin Creek, and owns Guanyin Diner. “One afternoon two hundred years ago, the sky opened and there came a thunderstorm.”
壽山巖觀音寺佇閩南風俗半年節的時陣會舉辦「觀音菩薩文化節」，各地的信徒攏會來答謝神明頂半年的保庇，
閣祈求下半年會當仝款平安順序。
除了繞境佮祈福以外，另外嘛會邀請各地的弄龍隊來比賽，閣有傳承真罕得看著的「弄龍燈」民俗。
During the Half Year Festival, a custom of Minnan origin, Shoushanyan hosts a series of events on Guanyin, including a tour of her realm and a general supplication for blessings. The faithful come from every corner of the country to thank the goddess for her care during the first half of the year, and to pray for a smooth-going second half.
Dragon dance teams nationwide are also invited to the temple to compete with one another, and to pass on the rare lantern dance.
蓮座山觀音寺是一間五門、單殿式的建築，上特別的所在是頭前的拜亭，亭面頂的簾簷有幾若層，徛佇木工幼路媠款的八卦形天篷下跤，敬奉蓮花佮果子，頂懸有「誠靈」兩字的匾。 正殿內面，觀音菩薩坐佇上內底，長年透月的香火共大殿內面逐位都薰甲烏趖趖，連觀音菩薩的面嘛烏去矣，毋過觀音菩薩的目頭並無憂結結，猶原微微仔笑咧斟酌聽逐家的聲音。
Architecturally, Lianzuo Mountain Guanyin Temple is a single hall of five gates wide with a pavilion of worship at the front. The pavilion has layers of eaves supported by the splendidly carved octagonal caisson inside; underneath, the faithful offer lotus and fruit to the goddess, witnessed by the inscribed panels hung overhead. The panels aptly read cheng (sincere) and ling (efficacious).
In the hall, Guanyin sits at the innermost position, and everything, including the statues face, is blackened by centuries of incense burning. But the bodhisattva frowns not; she smiles, and ever listens.
齋明寺是單進四護龍的閩南式建築，紅牆青瓦，峭脊厝脊，花草茂，樹仔青翠，古樸典雅。因為建築的規模誠有歷史、文化、藝術保存的價值，這馬已經是國家三級古蹟，閣有入選臺灣宗教百景。
齋明寺共大部份的空間攏留予樹仔、草仔埔、風、雨、鳥仔，予來廟寺拜佛的人攏會當感受著恬靜佮曠闊的媠。
The temple is of the Minnan style, consisting of a single door and two tiers of left and right wing room. It is designated a national monument for the historical, cultural, and artistic values of its redbrick walls, dark green tiles, ‘swallowtail’ roof ridges, and overall layout. The building occupies only a minor portion of the estate, leaving space to the trees, the grass, the birds, the wind, the rain, and every coming pilgrim who seeks quiet and sunyata.
