“Gia̍t-khiat-á-uē” (wisecracking) is a type of Taiwanese two-part allegorical sayings that are filled with ingenuity of homonyms and witty words. It is full of fun like riddles that embody the language of folk culture and the humor refined in life. “Kóng‑tshiò‑khe” (joking) means being funny and cracking jokes, which is one of the features of “gia̍t-khiat-á-uē”. In “Wisecracking and Joking”, the humorous life wisdom of Taiwanese is manifested with the two-part allegorical sayings.
